Some folks may grumble about the huge amount of content available to us 21st centurions. I myself am a former grumbler, now initiated into the collective. I actually like having too much information. Yes, it does get in the way sometimes, but then I have two options at any given moment; ignore it all and go do something else, or embrace it in that moment and possibly learn something I didn’t really even know I was interested in.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m reading now, more than ever before. Finding content to write about, or reading something that will inspire my next story – or sometimes just to read for (gasp!) entertainment. I can no longer hide behind my former ignoramus status, I’m now expected to keep a fine flow of effervescent cocktail party dialog going. Or do we call them “cocktail raves” now?
In that spirit I hereby point you to a fine website I recently discovered because I now follow a wonderful blog put out by the Long Now Foundation. They recently posted some information about Kevin Kelly, an outside the box thinker if ever there was one. You really deserve to click on these links and learn a little more about how other folks view the world and what kinds of things they are doing to make it a better place for us all.
I am now a link-clicking junkie. I feel like I’m getting smarter, but perhaps that is an illusion. Oh well, at least it gives me something new to think about when I go out for my daily walk. ~TH~
