I just received replacement carts for inking up pages with the Smith-Corona Coronamatic Super 12. Yep, in the 70s and 80s, everything ended with ‘matic’ – much like now, everything starts with ‘i’.
Having cleaned it up a bit and getting the engine revved up after decades of neglect, I gotta say; not too shabby.

Two-tone brown, how positively MOR. Note the prominent POWER RETURN. Be prepared to catch the machine as it flies across the table!
Yeah, SCM was not kidding around when they put “Power Return” on that key.
Yeah, like Jackie Gleason… Bang, ZOOM!
I wonder how easy it would be to put a cloth ribbon in those cartridges?
I think it would be difficult but they do sell the cartridges on Amazon.
As simple as anything we wierdos do I suppose… 😉
Odd to reflect that I have not yet tried an electric type-bar machine. Must remedy that sometime. 🙂
It’s a dramatic change in feel from a manual, and the typebar machines hum fairly loudly. Daisy wheel machines are much quieter. I like having some functioning electrics in the collection though.
