My Second Lettera 25

This is my second Lettera 25 by Olivetti.  I didn’t really need another Lettera 25, but it was $26 total, and I felt that was fair for this machine in this condition.  I’m guessing that as I spread the word around locally that I’m a typewriter enthusiast I’ll stumble into better deals.  In the meantime, online auctions will have to do.  ~TH~

  1. nice!
Keep it in the shade, though. a fella brought one of these to the last type-in and left it in his car during the height of AZ summer for a couple hours. By the time he brought it in, the shell had warped and the plastic ribbon spools had melted around the hot metal posts. the plastic was so soft that everywhere he touched it there was a permanent fingerprint sunk into the shell.

    • Good call, thanks! Yes, I had a friend many (many!) years ago who gave me a very cool 45 that I errantly left on my dashboard in the sun. It made that record into a very cool flower, but it’s playing days were over. I was sad. I dislike being sad. ~T~

  2. This made me think of the old Soviet typewriter my parents have. No idea how to fix it. It’s one of those things they’ve had for decades (naturally, as it’s a Soviet relic), but no one’s ever messed with it. I might have to take a look at it.
