Yes, I’m a stand up guy. It’s just one more weirdo thing I do. I do most of my work standing up now and I gotta say, it works for me.
First of all, I’m a pacer by nature. I pace when I think, and I often pace when I’m chatting with people in a room. My older brother does it too which leads me to believe it’s a genetic gift – or is it a flaw? Well, I like it, so to me it’s a gift. So, standing up when I type/write is conducive to spontaneous pacing. WIN.
Second of all, my legs don’t get sore and I’m much less prone to dozing off on my folded hands, drool pooling around my fingers like it did when I attended ‘History Of Western Music’ at WVU. Sorry Dr. Elzinga. You really knew your stuff and I’m sure the good folks at the university felt your classroom content would help me out later in life but, well… let’s just say- it hasn’t. I did enjoy the naps though. WIN.
I realize that some offices put treadmill desks in, but I certainly don’t feel the need to walk while I type. Not yet anyway. ~TH~
