Starting the week a little sluggishly from a pen-and-paper perspective. I’m digging into some necessary research for my NaNoWriMo work, and I’m attempting to get a regular schedule together for more Flash Fiction work.
As I’ve mentioned here before, I rarely have anything akin to writer’s block. Historically my largest problem is one of follow through. Any good batter or golfer will tell you that you have to follow through with your swing if you’re going to hit the ball well. Well, I’m a quitter by nature. For some unknown reason, that mental anguish that most people feel when they give up before the finish line is behind them? Never affected me. I’d get tired, or bored, or distracted and then – poof! The desire to achieve just vanished. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve finished things – chess games, album releases, heck – even real life races! But since I have a special gift for guilt free quitting, it’s probably best if I get every possible obstacle out of my own way before diving in to this year’s contest. When I get there, I just want to be writing and writing and writing. So I’ll continue my research and chapter outlines for the rest of this week.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? How do you prepare? Let me know, thanks! ~TH~
